What do the numbers say about Codebrite? And what’s this new programme coming out?
This year on the fourth week of January, MADVentures held four action packed days of Codebrite and Learn-to-Code tasters in Tauranga, Te Puke, and Katikati. And with 62 participating children and 83% saying they love coding even more after these workshops, you could say that these days met great success!
So where are the facts?
- Almost a third of participants were girls, the future of coding is changing!
- Nearly half of the children do not learn coding at school even though they all enjoying learning it.
- 40% of these participants said that they think they would learn more about coding from home. The rest prefered learning in groups at school or in a club.
Fortunately, there are free Code Clubs at the Greerton library, CodingNZ held after school, and Codebrite in the holidays. But along with this, Venture Centre is currently working on organizing a frequent programme for homeschooled children to continue coding on a weekly basis in Tauranga CBD.
The name of this programme is CodebriteTT (Term Time) and it starts Monday 12 March and runs for five consecutive weeks on Mondays from 9:45am to 11:00am, at Basestation 148 Durham Street
Tauranga, and is $115.
